Who We Are

The mighty Susquehanna River gave rise to the City of Wilkes-Barre. Now, our relationship with it is being reborn through the Riverfront Parks. In 1991, a group of visionary citizens, local business leaders and city government representatives banded together to form the Riverfront Parks Committee, an incorporated non-profit.

Since that time, the Committee has developed an ambitious master plan, designed to reunite the people of the Wyoming Valley with the river through recreation and environmental education programming.

Just a short walk from Public Square in Wilkes-Barre, the Riverfront Parks provides a perfect place for a picnic lunch or a relaxing walk – away from the stress of the office. From running, hiking and biking, to fishing and boating, nature studies, outdoor concerts and more, the Riverfront Parks represent an unparalleled natural resource.
